Anyone had pain with a spinal stimulator?

Posted by lisa619 @lisa619, Mar 19 2:45pm

I have a spinal stimulator and where the battery is placed it is giving me a lot of pain and my hip is hurting so bad . I see a new pan doctor in May and I just want this removed. Has anyone had this problem?

Is this a new spinal cord stimulator for you or was it implanted some time ago? Did it always cause pain or did it just start hurting recently?

yes, the battery might be too large located on the spine.
I had the Abbott Eterna first implanted a few years ago, the newest device developed by Abbott, as it was a battery non-rechargeable. It was extending out and away from the spine, causing pain. A few months later, I scheduled an appointment with the neurosurgeon, and it was agreed to remove it, and place it with a smaller device, chargeable, I believe it was called Burst (?) much to my dismay.
Do I have it implanted? No, it was all removed last year. As my neurosurgeon explained, the SCS relieves pain in 50% of the population, and he noted, I gave it a very good try.

@vikkitennis mine I charge with the thing on my battery where it is and it even hurts to put it on there now. I am going to a new pain clinic in May because of my induction and wanting it removed and in too much pain right now and can barely walk

Does anyone have any positive experiences with the spinal cord stimulator? My sister is considering getting one and from what I read here, it doesn’t sound worth the effort. Thanks
