Spinal issues

Posted by virtuous69 @virtuous69, Oct 3, 2022

I have all the above S issues with my spine. Rely on Norco for few hours of relief. Is there any help out there?
Also am caregiver for my husband and see no hope for the future.

@virtuous69 Hello. I am a spine surgery patient, so I sure can sympathize with what you are going through. I wasn't sure what spine issues you were describing, but by looking at your profile, I understand that you have been having spine injections. Have you ever considered surgery? Did your doctors discuss any potential decompression surgery? I know you have a lot on your plate, and being a caregiver is hard work. I was a caregiver for my dad at a time when I needed spine surgery and I was in pain, and he had end stage heart disease. I found that listening to music helped me relax and cope a lot. I was staying at my parent's house and I would go to sleep with headphones on a let myself cry because I had to hold that all in during the day when I was with him. Getting in touch with the feelings helped me process them and get past it. At that time, no spine surgeon would help me, and I had been trying to get help from different spine surgeons for 2 years. The silver lining was that I had some more time to spend with my dad, and if I had spine surgery at that time, I would not have been with him because I would not have been able to drive. It was just after that, that I was accepted at Mayo and had spine surgery. I had spinal cord compression from a collapsed C5/C6 disc and had a great result from my surgery. I have an older cousin who I think is 80, who had spinal stenosis in the lumbar area. He just had a laminectomy and he is recovering and after a week, reduced his pain medication. I just wanted to mention that as some things are possible, but you would need to work with a surgeon to see what could be done. My experience was that spine surgery was not that bad. I did not use pain medication after I got out of the hospital, and I was able to cope.
