Soft Bones as a result of bedridden pre op
I have had 3 back-surgeries, starting at 22, 47, and recently at 53. The first was a ruptured l5-s1, discectomy and fusion, with roughly 8 months on by back, 4 weeks recovery at home, then returned to duty. No Physical Therapy or light duty. Ran 3 miles 1st day back to work. Left leg was still numb from the knee up for 25 years. My 3rd surgery was delayed 7 months, I lost 85 lbs in the process and I’m sure atrophy. This surgery and the 10” scar became infected, but fortunately never abscesses. Return to duty after 2 weeks bed rest. Both shoulders became sore and a year and a half MRI’s were done, and again on 1/10/25. From googling the write up on the MRI’s I’m concerned the right shoulder is inoperable. When is it recommended, or necessary that recovery include PT, a controlled recovery time and steps, vs going back to work w/n two weeks? Can having 3 back surgeries in the same spot change my biomechanics and start effecting my shoulders, hips, knees? Is there a direct connection between delays in surgery 2 and my now torn rotator cuffs. My blood work showed low vitamin d, pre MRI, and I have been waiting since 1/10/25 for an ortho appointment, is this reducing my chances of having any relief from shoulder surgery?
