Silent reflux and famotidine

Posted by rop @rop, 6 days ago

After having a feeling of a lump in my throat for four months, my ENT doctor just diagnosed me with silent reflux. She suggested I take famotidine. I tried it for two nights and both nights. I got very bad heart palpitations. needless to say, I don’t want to take it again. Has this happened to anyone else? Any suggestions for a different med or natural product that could help.
Thank you.

I take famotadine everyday for two years now for reflux. I take 20 mgs. I know you can get palpitations with this medicine. Have you tried ppis? Nexium? Etc. tums? Have you tried brat diet?

Hey, I have never heard of silent reflux, but you learn something new everyday.
I have been taking Protonix 40 mgs twice a day for awhile. Initially I was taking otc medication, then I had to go to prescription medication. I had issues with swallowing, especially anything greasy, high in fat. Best of health to you!!

BRAT diet is for diarrhea symptoms, why would you suggest this ?

I have very bad heartburn and I took Famoudidine for years then it stopped working so they put me on Protonix daily. It saved me. Most importantly is your diet which could be giving you heartburn? Natural supports would be Peppermint or Liquorice tea. Drinking Apple Cider Vinegar diluted is also something you can try. Good luck everyone reacts differently, always keep this in mind.

Brat diet also helps me with reflux. That’s why I suggested it.

Ok I get that but not many nutrients with that diet, so I wouldn’t stay on that too long.
