Side effect of Radiation +ADT Orgovyx on Sexual function
Can anyone tell me if the combined treatement of radiation and ADT can cause some problem on the sexual function. If so, what to do to deal with it. Is there anything else other than viagra or cialis? I heard people saying that radiation usually does not cause any ED like surgery but other people believe that ED will obviously occur.

I have almost no libido, and complete ED. My team at MSKC has had me on trimix injections for 4 years, and they do enable me to have an erection. Wanting to do anything with it is another matter....
Well, the ADT part of treatment will almost certainly cause sexual issues with ED and desire being foremost.
Radiation could cause problems in some individuals, but IMO they are not as profound - or as long lasting - as surgery.
I generally felt like crap and had zero interest in being sexual. Just put the glow stick away for awhile lol
While radiation doesn’t generally cause ED right away, it is a long-term problem that affects many people that have had radiation. I’ve heard from a Few people that have had ED problems years after having radiation.
As others have said, that lack of desire is probably more of a problem than ED right after a radiation
ADT Cause a lot of other problems besides ED.
Due to their different mechanisms of action. ADT which includes Orgovyx, Firmagon, Lupron, Eligard, Prostap, Camcevi, Lucrin, Zoladex, Trelstar, Pamorelin, and Decapeptyl can cause numerous side effects. Actually due to a lack of testosterone.
Hot flashes
Fatigue
Muscle deterioration
Bone weakening
Brain fog
Depression
Weight gain
Difficulty in breathing
Not all of these side effects occur to everyone on the drugs. Most of them are just things you have to be aware of and circumvent. I walk on the track twice a day, 1 mile at least, to help prevent bone weakening, fatigue and muscle deterioration. I also go to the gym three days a week (usually) and spend an hour with all different types of weight exercises. One thing that happens is people get a beer belly from the muscle deterioration, I do a lot of sit-ups to offset that.
Some people get depression but it is not common. It is easily treatable, according to people that have reported it on here and on Online Meetings I have participated in. If he has that problem Come back and ask for help, Or see a psychiatrist about doing something to relieve the depression.
Some people get no hot flashes at all. Others only have a few hot flashes and they are very minor. I had severe hot flashes for the first year on Lupron. As a hot flash was hitting I would feel a lot of fatigue. After a year, my oncologist prescribed a depo-provera shot every three months and it really stopped those hot flashes on Lupron. There are other hormones that can do this, speak to your doctor.
I know one person that says eating tofu every day really controlled his hot flashes, another person in this forum said the same thing. Tofu does have properties similar to endocrine hormones but a lot weaker. Can’t hurt to try it. Seems they ate it daily.
According to a doctor that spoke to a recent webinar, all people on ADT should be taking bone straighteners. I took Fosamax for six years and I’m now on Zometa. That along with calcium taken daily helps keep your bones strong. Ask your doctor about this.
I have never gained any weight while on ADT. I get on the scale every morning and base what I eat on what I weigh. Skip lunch at times.
ADT usually causes ED. Even if you cannot get a full erection, you can still have sex and orgasms even if penetration is not possible. Work with your partner and be creative. You might as well have fun with your situation. My wife and I had weekly sex for the three years I was on ADT with a testosterone level of < 4. I have since had IPP surgery which allows penetration and works wonderfully. Thank you Medicare!
ADT = no sex life
ADT diminished my libido so I didn't get spontaneously horny BUT I could still get aroused by a partner who went slow and with LOTS of foreplay. I was able to keep erections while on ADT with 100 mg of Viagra (a year later I'm down to 20 mg but that's part of sexual rehab after radiation) but about four months in lost the ability to reach orgasm.
Doctors tell a lot of men "you can't have sex while on ADT" so we just take it as fact when it isn't--it just takes a lot more effort that doesn't seem worth it initially but is definitely worth it once you get started.
For the seven months on Orgovyx, I have been unable to have adequate erections or any climaxes. An ED specialist has prescribed Trimix, but we haven’t found a dosing that works consistently.
I’ll add diarrhea to the side effects list, 3-4 times daily for me. If I take Imodium immediately, I have one fewer episode.
Anyone tried a brand of vacuum pump they would recommend? Thanks.
