Shrinking breast after treatments

Posted by pippa1 @pippa1, Mar 19, 2023

Has anyone else had a breast shrink after lumpectomy, radiation and about a year on anastrozole? ( I had DCIS.) The other breast , the left one, has remained the same size, but the right one is significantly smaller.

Yeah, it is definitely a thing and can be distressing. @pippa1 I think this is not all that unusual. I volunteered for years at a local cancer services group. We had a giant chest of drawers with assorted prosthetics and pads for lumpectomy patients. Most of the ladies I know found these to be helpful, especially for formal wear and for working. I personally only use one for formal wear. Which has not happened since 2019. The nature of the styles and fabrics of more dressy clothes make it more noticeable.
I have one lady in my neighborhood who buys padded bras then takes the pad out of the larger breast side. She likes to laugh and say she is the only 86 year shopping at Victoria’s Secret and Frederick’s of Hollywood. 😂
How we feel about our bodies can really be hard well after BC.
How do you feel about this?

Seems like you could get fat transfer to the smaller side to even it out, I think it's fairly routine in/out surgery as well.

Thanks for the advice. However, at age 80 I'm not vain enough to go through another surgery.
