Serous adenocarcinoma: What does it mean?

I got the final diagnosis of serous carcinoma, does it pertains to endometrial cancer or ovarian cancer? I had my TAHBISO last Nov 10, and the diagnosis is high grade carcinoma, endometrium. After additional immunohistochemical stain, pathologists support the diagnosis of serous carcinoma. Upon checking with the link in mayo clinic diagnostic website the serous carninoma is under ovarian cancer. May I know the difference?

I have only heard it applied to ovarian cancer, but then that's what I've got.
Are you located in the US? It may be they use slightly different terminology elsewhere.
Did they just give you the report without your having a chance to talk to a doctor? Sounds like somebody needs to explain this in more detail, including what comes next.

Serous adenocarcinoma is one of the types of endometrial cancer (and also one of the types of ovarian cancer.)

But I agree that you should discuss this diagnosis and the next steps with your doctor.

@erthart65 Receiving the news that one has cancer is very frightening. I remember very well when my doctor called me with my diagnosis after the initial biopsy.

As @val64 wrote serous adenocarcinoma is one type of cancer that can occur in the uterus (endometrial cancer) or as an ovarian cancer.

You indicated that you received a final diagnosis. Was this made by a biopsy performed in the doctor's office? Or did you have surgery such as a hysterectomy?

After the total abdominal hysterectomy (TAHBISO) the pathologists concurs
that it was serous carcinoma and my gyne oncologist recommended 6 cycles if
chemo therapy and after a month I will have my 28 radiations. I had
undergone my 1st chemo this week. Feeling a little bit better after an
allergic reactions from the treatment.

Hi @erthart65, I thought I'd check in. How are you doing? Have you had more chemo treatments in the meantime? We're they able to avoid the allergic reaction with the following treatments?

I was on my 3rd chemo treatment last Feb 2. Three more to go. After 2 days my feet ached and I feel uncomfortable due to the effect if chemo treatment. I took cetirizine for my allergy and it healed. Thank you

I have read in quite a few studies that only doing radiation and doing chemo and radiation in serous and (clear 1-2 carcinoma (?) have much same result. Would so want to avoid chemo. So hard to understand.
