Sensitive guts

Posted by helen1000 @helen1000, Jul 9 7:09am

Does anyone have a sensitive gut like me? Sometimes I eat random stuff and have a diarrhea. I am intolerant to wheat and lactose so I am sure if I eat anything containing these two ingredients, I will have bloating or gas or have to go to bathroom. But sometimes after I eat vegetable juice, I still feel bloating or have diarrhea. So I am curious anyone has similar situation and how to deal with it.

Thanks for any input.

My issue is the opposite. It’s constipation. But like you, my gut is really sensitive to foods and especially medications. Do you take a probiotic or any supplements? I had a friend who kept Pepto-Bismol with her constantly because of problems similar to yours, and as soon as she stopped taking her probiotic, it ended.

Hi Carolinlv,
Do you want to try this way for your constipation - boiled/mixed vegetable with water for 30 mins blend it as soup and drink one cup in the morning and one cup in the evening? That helps constipation. My husband used to have a lot of constipation but now he refused to drink this vegetable juice because it promotes bowl movement.
I never take any probiotics just recently took a couple of days. It gives me stomach discomfort - you are 100% right some probiotics makes stomach sensitive! Thanks for sharing!

Have you been checked for EPI? I have had a very sensitive stomach for 3 years and ended up having EPI (exocrine pancreatic insufficiency).

I do suspect that I lack some enzymes , i.e. those break down fat, because I don't like oily or sweet stuff and keep the same weight for many years. However I never test it 😂 I once took some enzyme pills but it also made my stomach discomfort. That is a great idea - I should have my doctor test my enzymes and maybe gut bacteria. I also plan to do a food sensitivity test! They also have some stool test for other stuff. Thanks for your input really appreciate it! 😃

You might try food map diet to identify what foods cause problems. Monash University has the best information on this topic. It’s complicated but it could be worth the time to get on top of this early. You would need to go on a restrictive diet for at least three or four weeks. Then reintroduce foods gradually. The foods are identified by the different kinds of sugars.

When I read your post I wanted to answer. You could be in early stages of what could turn into irritable bowl syndrome, leaky gut oysibo or like me at 73 years old all three. I’m not a medical professional, just someone who has dealt with this issue for most of my life.
Try food mapping. Good luck and good health.

Dear Dab I fully understand you. When I was not aware of my wheat and milk intolerance, I like wheat made stuff and that is my most favorite food lol. After I did blood food allergy test 14 years ago, my life started to become normal. I really have to be very very careful about my diet esp those give me stomach discomfort. I ate some plants containing a lot of probiotics and they are completely new to my guts, so my gut becomes very sensitive recently. I guess I should not try many new types of food even they are plant based. Also I suspect I eat too much plants lol everyday. About food mapping my coworkers talked to me about it a few years ago but I did not pay much attention. Thanks a lot for letting me know this and the university name, I will definitely try it and let you know the results. I also wish you all the best in your gut health 🙏💟

Gut health hurts in so many different ways and is caused by so many different factors. You got great advice here. I might suggest researching an endoscopy for celiac disease. Since you are already wheat sensitive and you have diarrhea, that points to celiac symptoms. There are blood tests that can indicate celiac, but biopsies of your small intestines is THE ONLY true diagnosis. But, if you do get the endoscopy, it is imperative that you eat gluten just like you always have, even a couple of days, gluten free, can alter the results and you may get a false negative. It's an extremely important step, but the endoscopy is one of the easiest tests I have ever done. Also, your blood tests can be negative, don't let the doctor talk you out of the endoscopy. You can be seronegative and biopsy positive. Also, ask for the biopsy samples get DNA tested. My celiac was a complete shock, since I didn't have the common symptoms... but the DNA gave my adult children a concrete reason to request the endoscopy and their DNA tests. Good vibes going forward.

Yes that is so true that people in this forum are really really knowledgeable. I did the test 15 years ago and the doctor said I don't have Celiac disease, though the gluten intolerance symptoms are quite similar to that of Celiac disease. I got rid of soy sauce which contains wheat ingredients recently and see whether it will get better. Some shop sell gluten free soy sauce. I am very careless about what I eat because my stomach has been really good. But my intestin is more sensitive. Thanks a lot for the advices. I am getting older guess I can't be so careless any more.

Hellen and Shelley,

Good advise. I have had endoscopy. I am not celiac so grateful. I have multiple sclerosis. I was diagnosed at 25 years old. I have a neurogenic bowl and bladder. I have been using a catheter to empty my bladder for thirty years. I have chronic constipation.

I consider myself fortunate to have eleven amazing doctors to keep me together. The “Dream Team”. Puts Humpty Dumpty back together again.

Stay connected to as many sources of information as possible as you move forward on your journey.

May God bless you.

Have you tried peptide? That is regenerative medicine and front line technology. My daughter has a classmate who was suspected to have MS, so I searched for her. Though I. Not sure what type of peptide helps MS, but I do see many articles taking about piptide helps it. God bless you as well. I hope the most advanced technology can help you. Also a friend told me that a guy who suffered a lot from asthma cut off rice and he got cured. I hope magic works on you!!!
