Second half of evenity
I just took my 7th dose of Evenity in June. I read here that the second half is more antiresorptive than the first half of bone building. Has anyone experienced a stronger reaction to the remaining shots? I have had side effects since day 1 especially dose 3. I also have psoriatic arthritis and dose 7 may have aggravated things more than usual. Could be I just didn’t rest enough and increase Tylenol. My thoughts were they would be less potent. Thank you and good luck to all

I have also had reactions since day 1. Muscle/nerve pain in my back. I did have 4 compression fractures in my thoracic spine before starting medication and I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis as well so hard to tell where the pain is from, but the timing was suspicious. My pain kept increasing and by shot #11 I had enough so I opted out of the last shot. Getting my dexa this week and then deciding where to go from here, either Fosamax or Reclast. Side effects from both scare me but I'll have to choose something. Hoping at some point to go back to Forteo which I had no problems with but my dr stopped me after 8 months because of elevated alkaline phosphotase levels. Good luck to you!

I took my last Evenity injection(s) June 27. Except for the typical reactions that lasted a few days - redness, swelling, injection site pain. I did not experience any side effects and did not take any pre-injection Tylenol. After my fifth injection, I had a DEXA that indicated my spinal T-score had moved into the -1.0 range, up from the previous -2.9. The most recent scan in January 2024 was done on a different, new machine, so I'm now using that as a baseline. I also tried Tymlos but had major issues that required me to discontinue it after 8-1/2 months, so I can't be sure which med was more effective. We Are!!! Cheers!
Could you share what your major issues with Tymlos were? Thanks!
Hi @jskpswmn,
There’s not enough time or space to list everything, but here are a few: Tachycardia, debilitating chest, shoulder and back pain, occasional ankle pain that felt like I was walking on a shard of bone, GERD, nausea (24/7, even with use of Ondansetron).
The chest pains were so significant that I couldn’t take a deep breath and the pain in my shoulders felt like they were in a vise - no amount of Tylenol or Advil provided even a tiny bit of relief.
There were so many issues and related doc, ER and PT visits, incorrect disease diagnoses . . . from what I’ve been reading, these are atypical of Tymlos users. However, within a few days after discontinuing Tymlos, with the exception of GERD, my symptoms disappeared, so I’m definitely thinking cause and effect.
I hope this helps! Cheers!
I will see what shots 8 do but my goal is to complete the course. Seems a long way off right now. Step by step. Thank you
