Searching for Doctor Willing to Continue Evenity Beyond 1 year

Posted by marcd @marcd, Nov 30, 2025

I have been taking Evenity for more than one year with excellent results. My osteoporosis doctor is retiring. Therefore I am searching for a new doctor who is willing to work with me in continuing the Evenity treatment for more than the one year recommended by the Evenity manufacturer. Please recommend.

Hmmm. Let us know what you discover about continuing beyond one year. Also whether Medicare will cover it again. My endocrinologist told me only one year was indicated but I don't where that info came from. I'd like to do another year also.

All,

I asked my rheumatologist the same question…he said for now, one year of Evenity is the limit. However, I took heart after parsing his words: “For now”. Perhaps in the not too distant future… Will post within minutes if I hear any hoofbeats!

Happy Holiday Season! Cheers!

@gravity3 they only do one year because the studies were only for one year. That is why they move you to different drugs. The doctors feel comfortable following the control trials.

The manufacturer says that effectiveness wanes after 12 months. You might be better off saving a second year for the future when you may need it again?

I did 12 mths of Evenity and had great results. Then did a Reclast infusion and held most my gains.
And now I am on my 2nd 12 mths of Evenity.

@marcd for what reason are you proposing to continue with this specific drug for longer than pharma recommendations? For discussion purposes and a short pharmacological description for drugs like Evenity is that they have built up protection against bone reabsorption and now you need to maintain those positive results with another drug. It’s doubtful you’ll find someone who will do as you wish for the right price. But it’s your health and your bones.

This study on use of Evenity for 2 years shows there is still some gain in density occurring after 1 year although bone markers don't seem to indicate that.
