schmorls nodes can be repaired with with percutaneous vertebroplasty where bone cement is injected into the vertebra. Usually it is only undertaken in cases like yours where the pain is not responsive to conservative measures. You might look for a minimally invasive spine specialist. You'd want someone experienced in the procedure.

Vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty, to my knowledge, are done by interventional radiologists I favor kyphoplasty as the vertebral height is minimally compromised.

A discectomy or fusion, which can be done with a Minimal technique are done by a spine surgeon.

If it was me or one of my family members, I would favor starting with kyphoplasty as a more conservative technique. There is also minimal downtime (like half a day). I would reserve a spine surgeon for if the kyphoplasty was unsuccessful at relieving pain, neurologic symptoms
