Undifferentiated Pleomorphic Sarcoma: Anyone else want to share?

Posted by me67 @me67, Mar 3, 2017

I have been diagnosed with pleomorphic sarcoma. Is there anyone on this site that has had this cancer or has it now? I would like to talk to you. Thank you

Thank you for the positivity @ayjay ❤️‍🩹
I’ve only been completed 4 of my radiation treatments and I have 21 more to go👍
I am tolerating it well but I don’t like the nightmares from the Morphine so we are going to try switching to the Buprenorphine patch. I think I will need to request Home physical therapy to keep my leg from “freezing up” even though I am doing my exercises. I am pretty much bed ridden because of previous injuries to my sciatica and lower back, so transportation requires me to lay down flat. Happy to have found this group.

I was diagnosed with it in Oct. 2023. I've had surgery to remove a 5cm thigh tumor. No chemo or radiation.
How are you doing now?
I hope you have been well with no recurrence.

I was diagnosed with that October 2023. Have since had only surgery to remove 5cm thigh tumor. Many MRI's and CT scans since. No chemo. Now have small nodules in lungs.

Mine was only 1.9 cm and there is only maybe only 1 mm left. I am starting radiation after Thanksgiving. It's amazing that yours was so large. I guess I'm lucky. Thank you and good luck to you and I will pray for you

@debschmalbach, after 16 years, the return of the cancer must've come as a shock. What treatment options are available to you?

At this point they are planning on surgery to remove the tumor and portions of other organs then possibly radiation. It will depend on what they can get with surgery. There are other areas where there may be cancer and I’m scheduled for further testing so it is all kind of an outline of a plan. Thank you for asking. It is a shock somewhat unreal.

I had a pleomorphic retroperitineal tumor 16 years ago. They treated me first with chemo to try and shrink the tumor before they removed it. I have been cancer free for 16 years. It just returned. I would be glad to share any information I might have that would be helpful for you

Yes,
I was very lucky. Retroperitoneal I believe simply means back of the stomach. I don't have much advice. I had the surgery want went on living my life. I did not realize it could reoccurr perhaps ignorance is bliss. It was a pleomorphic liposarcoma tumor, I am guessing that is the same thing. I have heard them called sarcomas but I think the liposarcomas are more fatty. I am revisiting the entire experience again now and I may have handled it better back then. It took me awhile to recover. Where is your tumor and what size? Mine was 9 pounds by the time they removed it so the surgery was fairly extensive. They did not however have to take out any other organs. How aggressive was your surgery? Give your self time to heal and rest is my best advice. Wish you the best of luck.
