Rotator cuff issues in DISH patient
I know I’ve had problems with my shoulders for a while. I did get diagnosed with bilateral rotator cuff syndrome. I had had x-rays done a year and a half ago and then they did them again recently to make this decision so far. I have to have MRIs done but I can’t get those done until April 29. I think I’ve had some type of tendinitis going on for a while, so I would not be surprised if they see something with MRI. I know I was told by spine Doctor that the tendinitis with DISH is horrible. I know they say this can happen in the shoulders but I don’t think I ever remember anybody talking about it on this site. Does anybody else have issues with their shoulders?

Funny you should mention this because this morning I went back to bed with nasty shoulder pain, both upper arms, lower back and the cherry on top a 3/5 headache. Heat pads for the headache and shoulders as well as a couple of hours sleeping have dulled things. I was diagnosed with DISH two years back after a bone and CS. At first I thought the pain from my right shoulder was the dreaded Shoulder Cuff pain but DISH trumps all it seems. My father passed in 2006 from a Hospital induced morphine over dose, his choice. Prior to this he told me once that part of his burning pain was coming from his shoulders and neck which make me wonder if he had DISH. I’m also wondering if DISH is prevalent in more, lots more people and has been around since forever. Does anyone know what exactly is this thing, a virus, cancer, infection or something else like arthritis?
Hi Gary. Yes, DISH is a form of arthritis. And it can be in the presence of another arthritis, which I have is osteoarthritis. It has been around for a very long time because it is said that they could see this in the ancient Egyptians.
I’m sorry that you have this diagnosis and that you two have shoulder pain and that your father had shoulder pain. I can’t tell you whether or not your father had DISH but they do believe there could be an environmental/hereditary/metabolic component. So I guess it is possible that your father could have had it. We all have it affect us differently, and some people are early on, and that doesn’t affect them much at all. Everybody seems to have a little bit different journey, but in the end, we all seem to have a lot of pain, thank you for your reply and I do wish you luck and prayers 🙏
