Has anyone had improvement in their bone density from taking risedronate?

I saw improvement with my first DEXA scan a year after starting on Risedronate. I have another DEXA scan due next April so will see if improvement continued or not.

What dose are you on? Did you try alendronate first? I had GI reaction to one pill on alendronate and was wondering about the Delayed release risendronate.

I take 150 mg monthly. Prior to this I had three annual infusions of Reclast with no side effects and also no improvement in my bone density. I had to switch specialists because the one I was seeing retired and and my new NP switched me to risedronate sodium because she was concerned about Reclast's higher probability of kidney damage. Never took alendronate. I was stubborn and trying to manage my osteopenia with exercise and diet, and had a steady decrease in my bone density.

I took the 35mg of Actonel every week because I didn't want to hit my system with that much drug at once. It is a bit more of a pain, no pun intended, but I had no gastro problems. I was also very diligent to take it with a glass or more of water (empty stomach and upright) and 30 minutes later a good breakfast; eggs, toast, milk and fruit.
