Rice and meat and more get stuck! I do not eat nutritious foods now!
Food has been getting stuck
for years!!
I can not eat rice or chicken
or meat or fish,
except
sardines
that are small!!
I had
a barium swallow
test years back,
but they said
I was fine!!
I did drink Ensure
and Boost,
but
I had constipation
from
drinking it!!
I did drink
3 to 4 bottles
of Ensure
and Boost
every day,
but
I ate food with it

Are you looking for suggestions about what to eat? About how to find out what may be causing this? Both?
Recently,
a Clinic
let me know
I have
pre Diabetes and
my cholesterol
is a
little high
Since
the
person
told me this,
I have
been
eating
ricotta cheese and cream cheese
and cottage cheese
and
other cheese!!
I eat much
yogurt and
I eat
2 or more packets of
cream
of wheat!!
I drink Kefir
and
I drink
milk
that
is 2%!!
All of these foods and beverages
combined
probably
have much
salt and sugar
and cholesterol!!
I looked up the
nutrition information
for
cream of wheat!!
I think I read that
it is
500 mg
for
1 packet!!
I eat
Garden Tomato soup and
Broccoli soup and
Butternut Squash soup and
veggie soup
that
do not have
much salt in them!!
The cream of wheat
starts to
get stuck,
even though
I put
yogurt
and or Kefir
and or milk
in it!!
If you are looking for ways to expand your diet with these limitations--
one thing I can think of is to make a soup out of sweet potatoes. You can microwave or bake a sweet potato, take off the skin, cut it up (into coins, so that you cut through the long fibers that run lengthwise) and then mash it and mix with water or broth plus any flavoring that you like. Maybe a curry mix if you like those? It may be eaten either heated or chilled, whichever you prefer.
Do you think so much dairy could be casing inflammation? I did an elimination diet that excluded dairy and when I tried eating it again, I developed ear aches and a sore throat. Maybe you could make a good soup with bone broth and vegetables then use a hand held blender to purée it? I did this when my husband had neck surgery and had problems swallowing. Maybe try other grains, such as quinoa that is more nutritious than cream of wheat(which has gluten so maybe is contributing to the problem). I can’t drink the ensure type drinks so I drink bone broth instead to get protein.
You need to request a CT scan. This is not normal.
Have tried eating foods with more fiber?
Perhaps you need to have your esophagus dilated. The doctor can do it as part of an EGD (esophagogastroduodenoscopy)
From your list of foods you eat, there’s a lot of dairy and some high fat and high cholesterol.
Suggestions already mentioned that are good suggestions include drinking Kefir which is excellent for the digestive tract to build up good bacteria; omitting the cream of wheat due to gluten which is not good for the digestive tract; drinking bone broth ( that has been simmered for 24 hours and organic) which is nutritious. You can also make your own bone broth and add vegetables and chicken to it for a nutritious meal. Quinoa is a great suggestion, easy to make that you can add any meat or fish to and include vegetables or also add quinoa to a vegetable salad with tuna or shrimp. Also eat fruit from the berry family (strawberries, raspberries, blueberries- all low in sugar, contain good antioxidants and fiber. Apples are also good occasionally. Beans are another alternative to add to soups or salads that are high in protein and fiber. If you aren’t used to eating beans, start with small quantities to see how well you digest them, if you get too much gas or loose stools, cut back.
Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated which also helps with constipation and exercise - walking helps your system digest food and move food through your system.
I recommend staying away from Ensure or Boost. Read the label to see how much sugar, salt and chemicals they contain. It’s better if you make your own smoothies with healthy ingredient - berries, yogurt or kefir, protein powder, a nut butter like almond or cashew, add water or milk to blend.
Best to you!
Just saw this and I agree!!! I have had several dilations, no pain, maybe a little sore after, but not bad at all.
Also had barium swallow test, was ok, (?) but I could not swallow and this fixes it…I probably have to do it yearly, you, of course will know when to do it. Good luck! Maybe find a new Gastrointestinal doc?
