Rib cage pain. Er docs don’t know what’s wrong with me
Female, 27, 155lbs.
Only procedure has been a C-section 2024.
Since then though I have had issues with excruciating pain around my rib cage. I’ve been tested for every emergent thing and recommended I talk to a primary. But hardly anyone takes my pain seriously. I’ve been told it’s constipation or heartburn. But it hurts way too much to be that in my opinion. The episodes are random and last anywhere from 30 minutes to hours. Sometimes heat or meds will dull the pain but nothing has worked outright. It is an overwhelming crushing pain that feels like someone is sitting on me. It’s hard to breathe and moving makes it worse.
I just wish I knew what to do. I can’t keep living like this. I need more tools to manage pain or tests to demand be done.

Hey there! Is it on the right side? If so, this could be gallbladder, liver issues or appendicitis. Have you been to a Gastro doctor for a complete exam? Praying for you and I am sorry you are going through this.
@covidstinks2023 the pain is on both sides and radiates to my back.
cantsleep30303, Have they done an ultrasound? Blessings & Prayers....
I have so much compassion for you. You are still too young to have that kind of pain . Have they checked the organs behind the ribs? Bless you

2 ReactionsDoes the pain change as you breathe? What I mean is, is it the same when you are inhaling and exhaling or holding your breath?

1 ReactionI remember year before last I went to the emergency I was having sharp electrical jolts on my left side of rib cage they couldn't find what was wrong either a part of the testing was COVID came back positive a didn't believe them at first until I looked it up after I got home and it said it was a symptom of COVID anyway it went away after about 3 weeks. COVID effects the lining in between the lungs and the rib. Don't know how long you have been dealing with it but mine lasted about 3 weeks. Good luck.

1 Reaction@covidstinks2023 thanks, no they have done X-rays and CT scans
@mdamiani57 I did have Covid once but that was a couple years ago. This has been off and on for over a year.
@laura1970 from memory, I don’t think there were too many significant changes. I felt like I needed to hold my breath (if that makes sense) as there was an intensity in the pain when breathing normally but I know slow deep breaths are how I get through (the episodes) them mentally. Will update if I notice any changes when the next one hits.
