Return to "normal" activity after positive for Covid

I have not found any useful new real-world guidelines for the updated CDC protocol for returning to normal activities following positive Covid home testing. The CDC says that there is no need to continue to test at home if you have tested positive. But, at some point, if I want to do "normal" activities, I will have to test again to get my two negative tests 48 hours apart. I find it frustrating that the same test that can tell me I have/had Covid is not the same test that can tell me if and when I am Covid-free. I have consulted my PCP, my county public health department and am now hoping someone with infectious disease expertise at Mayo can chime in. I tested positive for Covid per a home test on September 27th, with mild symptoms. First time ever. Botton line is - when can I be in close contact with people again unmasked? Not looking for the CDC version as I have already read it and do not understand the vagueness. Thanks all!

lisakuehl, You are correct in that it is so vague. It seems to not be as restricted as before.

Personally, I would do 10 days before I would be around people, unless you are running fever still, have pneumonia or bronchitis. Then I would wait longer.

Blessings & Prayers to you....

I just had it in June and had a court date 3 days after I tested positive. My PCP wrote a Dr note to stay isolated for 48 hours after I have no fever. That was it. Court said they really just ask you wear a mask if sick but allowed my note. One minute it’s deadly and we quarantine and then when no money is being paid out, they don’t care anymore. Do what you want. Uugghh
