Respirologists with expertise in bronchiectasis in the Vancouver area

Posted by kathyhg @kathyhg, Oct 19, 2025

I’ve read other members of this forum asking about physicians in different parts of the US and I’m hopeful that there are other Canadians on this forum who might have recommendations for respirologists (with expertise in this bronchiectasis) in the Vancouver area?

If anyone has names to help me out, could you either reply here or send a private email if you’re not comfortable sharing name(s) here?

Thanks so much,

Hi, Out of curiosity I asked an ai chatbot. This is what it produced. I guess it depends on where you live for access? In general, you'd like to look for large academic institutions with hospitals and medical clinics. Hopefully, you'll hear from other members with recommendations.

@kathyhg there are definitely Canadians in this forum so hopefully you will get some helpful feedback soon, if you haven't already privately.

Dr. Julie Jarand and Dr. Christina Thornton, based in Calgary, are leading experts in bronchiectasis and NTM. In Toronto, Dr. Ted Marras is also highly regarded in this field. You might consider reaching out to them for recommendations on specialists in the Vancouver area.

I have to admit, I actually asked Dr. Marras last year at the first North American Bronchiectasis and NTM Conference, and he gave me the name of someone in Vancouver. Unfortunately, I misplaced it.

The good news is that the conference will be held again this December, and I plan to ask him once more—this time I’ll be sure to keep the name safe!

Below is the information I recently shared in my newsletter. If you are interested in the professional conference, please note that the discounted registration fee is available for only a few more days.
Let’s keep learning together!

@becleartoday thank you so much for the links you provided. I watched the first one by Dr. Julie Jurand on the Canadian database update and I plan to watch all the others as they are very informative.

I live on Vancouver Island, under the care of a pulmonologist based in Victoria for my brochiectasis so unfortunately I cannot recommend a specific doctor in Vancouver. However, I encourage you to contact Pacific Lung Health Centre attached to St. Paul's Hospital on Burrard Street in Vancouver. I spent two years under their care and their academic clinical program is excellent.
