Remote second opinion - outside the USA

Posted by katalinb @katalinb, 1 day ago

Hi! Does anyone know if remote second opinion an option for somebody abroad? A friend of mine from Romania contacted me regarding a 21 year old diagnosed with Leukemia. The family would like a second opinion from the United States. They have all the information reports and lab work in English available from the Romanian hospital.

Thank you!
Katalin

Hello @katalinb and welcome to Mayo Connect. How very kind of you to be helping your friend in Romania.

If your friend would be interested in obtaining a second opinion from Mayo Clinic, here is a link to appointment information, http://mayocl.in/1mtmR63. As she follows that link she can get more information about the types of appointments available for individuals who reside outside of the U.S. As you can see, there is a section in this appointment link that discusses international patients. If she calls she will probably be able to speak with someone who can assist her.

Most of the major hospitals offer second opinions; they can be costly.
Warm thoughts to you for reaching out for your friend.
