Redness in knee after tkr

Posted by cheriko @cheriko, 23 hours ago

Had TKR, 4 weeks ago, and when walking, exercising etc my knee turns very red and mottled, but redness subsides when I get off my feet. Is this normal?

Is it getting better, worse, or staying the same? Mild redness, swelling, and warmth can persist for a few months post-TKR, resolving gradually as healing progresses.

Red Flags: Seek prompt medical attention if redness is persistent—not improving with time or rest—or is accompanied by:
Progressive swelling, pain, or warmth
Drainage from the incision (especially foul-smelling)
Fever above 100°F (37.8°C), chills, or night sweats
Increasing tenderness, the knee feeling “hot,” or instability

Also call surgeon if your gut is telling you something isn’t right, even if you can’t pinpoint what it is.
