Radiofrequency Ablation versus Basivertebratal Nerve Ablation

Hi there, I am so confused!! So, a while back I had bilateral Medial Branch Nerve Blocks done on my L3/L4, L4/L5, and L5/S1. It worked, 100% pain free, for 10 days and then 50% for an additional 5 days. Woohoo!! I thought that I was on the path to relief. Therefore, I went ahead with the regular Radiofrequency Ablation of the same areas (bilateral L3-S1), and ... NOTHING!! I did not have any pain relief. Now the doctor is recommending BVN (Basivertebratal Nerve Ablation). Sorry if my spelling is incorrect, I am not a doctor. One of my questions is, why couldn't the doctor discover which nerves were causing the pain in the first place? And why did the liquid shots work and not the first procedure/surgery? What are chances that BVN is going to work? A little frustrated, but I want this pain gone.

Is your doctor an anesthesiologist? If so, how many ablations has he done? I had an ablation done over 15 months ago and I am still without pain.
I do hope your next procedure is better for you.

I have had several ablations in my lower back and sacrum. They worked wonderfully well.
However, in my consultation before the treatment my doctor stressed that sometimes, the ablation does not work as well as anticipated. You can never guarantee that each procedure will give the same results.
Other folk in my group, all agreed with that!
I do hope you and your doctor will find the right treatment for you.
