Radiation Oncologist in Fairfield County CT
I am recently diagnosed with 4+3 prostate cancer (intermediate risk).
I reside in Fairfield county CT and need advice on the best radiation oncologist to consult with. Also, which hospitals or groups have the best radiation equipment?

One doctor I know goes to somebody at Yale. You might look into them, I’m not sure how close it is to you.
Some areas of Connecticut are close to New York City and if you could get treatment at MSKCC, Weill Cornell and NY Presby according to the doctor I know that lives in Connecticut.
@jeffmarc I interviewed Yale New Haven radiation oncology today. They do not have MRI guided EBRT. Am looking at MSK now.
@ctsenior
MSK should have one of the two MRI guided machines.
Yes, they even have it at Westchester NY which is closer to me.
Did you know that brachytherapy is not offered by Yale? In fact is has fallen out of favor in CT.
@ctsenior
If I were looking for a doctor, I would sign into the ancan.org Weekly advanced prostate cancer online meeting and ask Rick for a recommendation for a doctor in my area.
The recommendations I gave you were from Rick and one of the other moderators that lives in Connecticut. Didn’t know exactly what you were looking for if you came to a meeting they could probably answer it for you.
Brachytherapy Is not available at a lot of places, It is heavily used in Europe because to them doing treatments quicker is better since everybody has insurance. Here they want to make the most money and there are more sessions with IMRT and SBRT so it is more profitable.
Definitely annoying since brachytherapy Works so well.
