R-ALA
I have been taking 1200 mg of R-ALA daily for at least 2 years for peripheral neuropathy in both feet and legs. The main symptoms are numbness, some pain and balance issues. I have had it for at least 5 years. I cant say it has lessened my symptoms much. But it doesnt seem that they are getting worse too quickly which I am grateful for. I have been thinking of stopping the A-ALA as it is not inexpensive. But I am hesitant, concerned that maybe it is helping and I dont want to lose any benefit it is having. I am interested in others experience with A-ALA. Thanks

Accidentally I typed A-ALA twice. R-ALA is what I meant.
I've been taking na-R-ALA 1200 mg since 2016 along with a protocol of other supplements for neuropathy and have had the same thoughts about stopping them but at times I've noticed a little more feeling come back and it hasn't gotten any worse so I just keep taking the supplements. I don't think it would hurt to stop it for a period of time just to see if you feel better or worse. There are quite a few discussions and member posts on the different forms of alpha lipoic acid . So, do you know the cause of the neuropathy?
Yes I’d like to know the cause as well
No I dont know the cause. Dont know if its heredity. My mother died young and my dad lived to 89. I dont renember any mention of neuropathy. I am 77.
I am pre-diabetic.
I see. I was just wondering if the reason you weren’t getting worse is that the cause was somehow controlled, such as maintaining blood sugar level, spine issue not deteriorating, or vitamin deficiency not getting worse.
