question on triple positive BC treatments
Had recently been diagnosed for BC, Triple positive. Just had my surgery. Lymphnode clear, small tumor. Waiting for the appointment with the Oncologist. The surgeon mentioned that because I have the her2+, I'm a candidate for chemo, radiation, and herceptin.
Anyone had something similar? Id appreciate any info please.
I'm very scared, worried for my 16 year old who now have to deal with a Mom going through this..

Hi CV Mom. I’m very sorry that you have been diagnosed but please know you’re going to be okay.
I was diagnosed with triple positive over four years ago. I too was stage one, had a lumpectomy with clear lymph nodes.
Your oncologist will discuss the best treatment options for you but do know that although the journey might seem overwhelming now, you’ll get through it. The beginning of the journey is probably the hardest few weeks (or months).
Triple positive is very treatable and it sounds like you’re in good hands. ♥️
I was also triple positive with one node positive. I had mastectomy and removed arm lymph nodes on the breast cancer side. I completed chemo and still on herceptin infusion every three weeks. I didn’t have radiation. Given what you described, you will be cured by the proposed method. All the best to you! My spiritual side grows so much stronger and gives me peace. Hope you will find comfort and peace too..
Thank you for the encouragement Lisakinpa.
Thank you @resort. I'm having such a difficulty dealing with this mentally/emotionally...my faith is give me some strength.
Any side effects that you are feeling with herceptin?
I had mild reaction during weekly chemo. I haven’t noticed anything directly related to Herceptin yet. I take QoC 100mg daily to protect my heart. Nurse told me most people don’t have noticed side effects of take herceptin alone. The initial phase after knowing getting cancer is the hardest. But I don’t think your situation is bad at all and my mom and aunt all lived a very long life without recurrence. You will be doing very well too. Statistics don’t lie.
I had the same diagnosis. Triple positive with a small tumor. I did weekly chemo for 12 weeks, radiation, and herceptin for a year. I worked the entire time during my treatment at my job, only taking my chemo days off. It seems like a lot but the treatment is very effective. I tried to focus on each step of treatment at a time without getting too far ahead of myself.
HER-2 is serious. But Herceptin is a miracle drug. I had infusions of Herceptin and Perjeta for a year ( I don't remember the frequency ). That was in 2015, 8 years ago. I didn't notice any side effects, but I had to have echocardiograms from time to time as a precaution.
@cvmom23, raising a teenager while dealing with cancer and treatments is tough. It's probably tough and confusing for him too. Sixteen is when a child searches for independence and separation. Interest in friends and self take priority. You may find these helpful:
