How long does it take to see the results of a PSA test usually?
My husband is having his first PSA test on Monday. Surgery was 7 weeks ago. Does anyone know how long it is to see results on the portal from Sloan Kettering Hospital

I get my results in 20 minutes from the blood lab at the urology practice I go to.
@cgonsalves
I'm guessing your PSA is actually <0.05, not <0.5.
@cgonsalves <.5 is never undetectable. <.1 is undetectable by all standards.
There must be some confusion here because this is just not correct information.
If somebody has had a prostatectomy and their PSA is .2 They want to do radiation already.
If somebody has had radiation as their primary treatment then .5 would be acceptable, but it’s not undetectable.

2 ReactionsHi Coleen,
Yes, results came in and was <0.5. Which at Sloan is considered undetectable. We have follow-up appointment today with the surgeon. We will go over what steps are next. My hopes are we will be monitoring his PSA every 2 to three months and pray for positive news. At this juncture we are feeling a bit relieved but know there is a long road ahead. Thanks so much for checking in.

2 Reactions@cgonsalves, I'm sure you've received the results of the PSA testing now. How is your husband doing? What are next steps for him (and you)?

1 ReactionIn PHX with Mayo or Sonora Quest lab -- test in the morning, results in the afternoon
Mine on Wednesday are sent overnight to Mayo Rochester. Sometimes I get them on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, or the next Monday (like today). I have to do the blood draw a week ahead of my oncologist appointment in order to be sure to have the results in time for that appointment.
Note that in my case, I get them back in MyChart at my sending hospital, so I don't know if the delay is at Rochester, or in the posting of the results in my hospital's MyChart.
My guess is that there is (in my case) a manual step that causes the delay.
Thank you all......
I go to the Mayo Clinic. My PSA tests are done early in the morning with an appointment with my doctor about one hour later. The results are put into my patient portal in about one hour.
