My oncologist stated that they don’t look at a specific number when evaluating PSA, they look at the rate of increase (if any). I assume you have regularly scheduled PSA tests to determine that…

The use of focal therapy has been unproven in long-term results. A comment about the Results of the different types of focal therapy.

At the 11/1/2025 PCRI conference the following was said by Matthew R. Cooperberg, MD, MPH

What about focal therapy?
* The energy modality matters much less than the accuracy of the imaging - which is not there yet.
* Overall focal therapy is associated with minor side effects, but high rates of recurrence both in- and out-of-field.
* Focal therapy is not really a replacement for surgery or radiation; it is better considered an adjunct to active surveillance

@jeffmarc Thank you, I am hopeful, and I am reluctant to agree, but it makes sense

For acronym naive PHI is a complicated calculation of a combo of 3 variant PSA proteins. It may be less expensive than the EpiSwitch (PSE) 94% 'accurate' But it still has 6-10% inaccuracy rate. Both a high or low PHI may incorrectly indicate the actual status. There are no 100% tests, hence a good relationship with the knowledgeable medical oncologist is important.

This article is from Australia, would be interesting to hear from USA testing. The PHI has been approved since 2012 yet it is rarely heard about. I can’t recall anybody ever referring to that test result.

AI says the PHI test is 75% accurate compared to 94% for the PSE.

The PHI test is more likely to be covered by insurance according to AI searches.

I requested a script for a EpiSwitch (PSE) to my oncologist, thank you. Part of the healing process is encouragement and Hope that bloodwork cannot give, i appreciate to insight you have.

Has anyone been approached to participate in a vir-5500 trial. It's a new T-cell treatment that attacks prostate cancer cells by homing in on cells with PSA on them?
