Problem with Chronic constipation
I have a history of hypothyroidism, severe endometriosis/treatment was a hysterectomy 17 years ago.I also have a hx of IBS. My thyroid hormone levels are stable. I eat like a rabbit(I poop like one too, LOL!!!!!!). I eat a large amount of fiber and drink almost every hour(nonalcholic).ONly prescription drugs I take are armour thyroid and my estrogen/prosterone troche. I make a coconut bread and I add psyllium husks, flax seed and chia seed to it. I eat it practically every am. I also eat a spinach salad for lunch daily with nuts and yogurt and eat a lean meat and veggie and more coconut bread at night. I do one cheat meal with a cheat dessert once per week. I am relatively active for my age of 60. I've been to a gastroenterologist and we have tried Linzess which didn't help at all. I take miralax, and a Super Cleanse tab one per day which has herbs to soften the stool and to stimulate the bowel and It barely works. I am at a loss. I have not tried Montegrity yet. I don't know if it will be helpful and the side effects scare me. I had a CT of my abdomen and it was ok, no obstructions. The gastroenterologist that I go to practically accused me of abusing laxatives. I would be impacted if I didnt use the miralax and the Super Cleanse. Diet/water and activity do not help. I had diarrhea from my late teens to the age of 36 when my intestines out of the blue just shut down completely. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism, I was put on Synthroid but the constipation didn't go away. So if there is any gastroenterologist out there that can help me, please let me know.I feel defeated and worry about my health.

I'm curious, as I am on Creon, and the pancreas expert told me that my pancreas looked fine (I had a ton of various exams on it). However, it simply isn't functioning, as if it stopped making enzymes, and there is no visual damage from anything such as drinking wine . I did drink several glasses a day in the Covid lock down, but am a non-smoker, and am not a heavy drinker relate to my French and Italian co-workers, an I stopped drinking immediately when told to do so. I also do not smoke. Perhaps the doctor didn't mention the visual quality of the pancreas...but he told me he had seen 70 year old alcoholics that had a pancreas that functioned better than mine, and that their pancreas had significant visual damage from drinking. It's so odd to hear that their pancreas works better than mine.
As far as the Creon goes, it does help with the diarrhea, but often results in constipation and the issues associated with that.
Carolinlv, this was so kind of you to take the time to reply. I think reading your comment was the first time I smiled today. Gosh, I hope others aren't offended by our personal conversations... I have found that when I am looking online for answers to a question, I tend to take many side steps to other sites, and sometimes even confuse myself. It does seem that you and I are reading /replying to similar posts. If you're interested we can do direct messaging, thru the site or to our own email.. If so, I would be...sw35gw@icloud.com

Same here and the tomato is my favorite food but my body hates acid, especially citric.

2 Reactions@carolinlv - I don’t like tomatoes either - but if I have to eat them I’d rather eat them raw than cooked or stewed I to anything! Don’t like spaghetti sauce either!

1 ReactionHey ladies, I find that drinking warm water helps a lot to my stomach. I don't have any irritation to my empty stomach when taking probiotics. I find people in US drink iced water or cold water a lot and that will be scary to our Asian. 🙂

4 ReactionsI don’t think I could’ve taken your comments as anything but how they were intended. You seem like a very kind person. I wish you lived near me! I think we could be friends.❤️ I was thinking the same thing… Do you think people are offended by our personal conversations? 😳
Sure glad I held my mouth in check. Here we are sharing on this site about medical issues and the threads can take some interesting turns. I am thrilled that you are so close that you can share with your daughters. My other daughter and I can share like that. My concern is that I have genetic issues, that I was told to inform all my first line relatives. So I got creative, wrote a note as brief as I could. Then if she chooses to ignore it, I can't force her to get tested. Now, I'm not crying, I'm jealous 🤪😉‼️‼️lol Shelley

4 ReactionsIt’s actually quite the opposite with my girls. I raised them alone. We are very close and they are comfortable talking to me about anything. The reason my youngest felt comfortable telling me this is because we both suffer anxiety and she knows what she is capable of doing to herself. We are both aware of the problems our anxiety may be causing us, but neither of us seem to be able to get past it. I absolutely appreciate your concern and can understand why my comment might’ve been horrifying. It makes me think maybe I should remove it! She would never do anything to hurt me and we are as close as a mother and daughter could be. I think she was just reminding me to look inward at how I might be causing problems for myself that I could help either on my own or possibly with care from another type of doctor. I feel so bad for you, Shelley, that you do have a child who would say horrible things to you. Being unkind to your mother is something I find intolerable. I have an older sister who treated my mother badly, and I stopped speaking to her entirely because of it. She behaved so horribly and hurt my mother during a visit over 35 years ago that I booted her out of the house right then. We haven’t spoken since. I don’t understand why so many children want to blame all of their woes on their parents (though I know there are some who deserve to be blamed!) My mother was a gem and my sister’s unhappiness was of her own doing. I’m going to guess you are probably a gem too and your daughter needs someone to blame. Now I hope I’m not speaking out of turn. I wish you all the best. In addition to everything we have going on physically, we should not feel emotionally beaten up by our own children. I KNOW you deserve better based upon the compassion I feel from you 😢❤️❤️

1 Reactionbkatz43, don't down play Covid. Do not let any dr. down play it either. I can't believe I have been ok with the vaccines and not gotten Covid, but I rarely leave my house. My friend from high school, 65 yrs old, just finished his 11th go round with Covid. He got all the vaccines and reacted badly to most of them. He describes his symptoms and experiences with it, and he has all the symptoms of: ME/CFS, Fibromyalgia, migraines some may be autoimmune disorders, triggered by the Covid/vaccines, plus a lot more. He has aged 10+ years. So, YES, Covid probably plays a huge part in your health. Take care and stay tough with drs. Shelley
😇 thank you, you are a sweetheart. I love good vibes!! Shelley
