Post getting catheter and JP drain removed

Posted by mpersonne @mpersonne, 21 hours ago

I had all tubes removed on Tuesday, but still leaking where the JP drain was. Anyone experienced this, and how long before small incision heals? They just placed a bandage on it after they pulled it out, and said it would scab over on its own.

i had the 6 small incisions post RARP. they never leaked, looked good right away, healed over completely in a couple of weeks.

@jeff1963 all incisions are doing fine, but the side drain opening is the only one still leaking.. just annoying

@mpersonne

Try to keep it dry and bandaged with real sterile gauze (not band-aid) and protected from rubbing on anything (underwear elastic or similar). After the shower gently dry it with hair-dryer (low heat) and re-bandage. If that does not help in couple of days ask if they can use some bio-glue to close it. If you notice any yellowish or thick discharge go to doctor immediately.

My husband's incisions healed very fast, but I remember reading here that side drain sometimes needs couple of days longer to close. Just keep your eye on it - it should be getting better , even if it is little by little. If there is no change definitely ask your doctor for advice.

Yes, same here; leaked a bit for 2-3 days but less and less until there was nothing.
