Post brain tumor surgery pains

Posted by mjlc25 @mjlc25, 6 days ago

I am currently six weeks into my recovery period and feel grateful that my condition was benign. The swelling has decreased, and the headaches have improved as well. I have completed the post-CT scan, and the results were positive. I also finished taking the necessary medications to prevent seizures and relieve pain.

However, I am experiencing shooting pains in my head. Is this something to be concerned about? Has anyone else had a similar experience around this time? Should I reach out to my doctor about this? I am scheduled for an MRI this October.

mjlc: After my craniotomy 2 years ago I had double vision for 3 months. I was told it was because of inflammation from the surgery itself, understandable given they are messing with your brain tissue. Perhaps those shooting pains in your head are one of your cranial nerves going kiddiewampus from inflammation caused by the surgery. I hope things calm down for you soon. Also, I would contact your care team, as others have suggested, b/c you want all your side effects charted.
