Poorly differentiated thyroid cancer with BRAF and TERT mutations.
My mother was diagnosed with Poorly Differentiated Thyroid Carcinoma in November 2024. She got a total thyroidectomy that was complicated by an esophageal perforation and had an esophageal repair in December 2024. A swallow study determined that the repair was successful 4 weeks later. The cancer spread to her esophagus, voice box, and trachea. We were told the RAI therapy would not work since the poorly differentiated cancer does not take iodine. She has an oncology appointment this week to explore targeted therapy, however a 4.2cm tumor has grown between her esophagus and her airway since the surgery in December 2024. Has anyone received treatment for PDTC?
