Pocket of swelling on hip 6 weeks out
First, I see my surgeon tomorrow. Has anyone had issues with continuing swelling on the hip? Mine feels like the tissues are "full". I do not have redness, heat or a fever and my incision is well healed. The swelling collects over the course of the day, so becomes pretty tight by bedtime. Just want to know if this is an expected issue.

From memory, some build up of fluid (swelling) during the day after surgery is expected, improves at night, and should stop after a month or two.
Please let us know what your surgeon thought, as you indicated you were about to be seen.
Best wishes
He was unconcerned as the xray was fine and no infection present. He thought I may have overdone activity that day and ice application did help...so keep ice in my bag of tricks even 6 weeks out.
Several days more into this and I discovered that benadryl helped. The pocket of fluid has lessened, I was able to lay on my affected hip to sleep with less discomfort and the soft tissues feel much softer (less tense and full). I am wondering if this is a reaction to dissolvable internal sutures degrading. It is the right time frame. Just putting this out there in case it becomes helpful to someone else.
