Pneumonia and diabetes. Does diabetes predispose for Pneumonia?

Twice I had pneumonia, since I have been Type 1. both times after pneumonia shots(2 types). Am I more likely to get pneumonia due to diabetes and the effects of the immune system? What can I do to prevent a recurrence? It happened both times in a cool, spring climate, if that makes it more aggressive?
I feel a bit worried about the upcoming trip I have to the same ciimate (between 40 and 70 degrees F) What should I do or not do?
