Pirenzepine update

Posted by proteusx @proteusx, 1 day ago

If you are like me you have been frustrated by lack of news related to WinSanTor's proposed peripheral neuropathy drug (topical pirenzepine), which, if approved, promises to be the first PN drug that can actually modify the disease. It is one thing to get a new drug approved on the basis of its ability to reduce PN pain, quite another (and far more complex and far more expensive) to get a PN drug approved with a disease-modifying indication, and, clearly, WinSanTor has been struggling with funding. I have heard from sources I cannot vouch for as to reliability that WinSanTor is now focusing on getting the drug approved first in Europe where the path forward may be somewhat less onerous, with a target approval date some time in 2028.
