Physician recommendations

Posted by plumkrazy45 @plumkrazy45, Jul 6, 2022

My mother just had biopsy with abnormal cells and needs a lumpectomy. Looking for a recommendation for a physician that is very through and willing to explain risks and benefits and known for their work.

Hi @plumkrazy45, sorry to hear about your mom. I recommend that your mom go to a top rate cancer center like Mayo. Are you interested in information about requesting an appointment at Mayo Clinic?

Are you thinking of going to specific area / clinic for the surgery?

Select a specialist in Breast surgery, and if can, go to a clinic that has a Breast Clinic. They should have an entire team of specialist.

If after meeting with a surgeon, you are not comfortable , get a 2nd opinion. It helps to have questions written down and have 2nd person at appointment.

I usually let provider explain everything, and then review my questions to make sure everything is covered before he/she leaves the office. Also, ask how to contact if have additional questions. Once go home and think and discuss, there will have more question.

This website was recommended by a Mayo surgeon as good resource for breast information:

This site has a list of questions for surgeon, pick and choice the ones you think you should ask based on your situation.
