Pes anserine bursae

After 3 procedures on my knee (arthroscopic, tkr, manipulation) my new revision specialist said the pain was from the pes anserine bursae. Probably didn't need a knee replacement. The pain was so excruciating after every surgery I couldn't work through pt. Lots of scar tissue so had a partial revision to scrape scar tissue. First surgeon totally misdiagnosed the problem.

Hi @tkrfail21. What a frustrating revelation. If you don't mind me asking, did you have arthritis in your knee at all or any damage to your knee joint that was revealed on an x-ray of some sort? Have you been going to PT after your partial revision with your new specialist? How have you improved since?

I know your pain. I had TKR 6yrs ago and have been in far worse pain since that surgery. 2 yrs after TKR I had revision and still terrible pain. In the 6 yrs I have had 17 procedures and nothing worked. Pea bursea was one problem, after PRP injection and some painful PT the pez has calmed down. But I still can’t walk one step without terrible pain, from the top 2 doctors in NYC I am told it’s some kind of nerve issue that never will be found. I believe the first surgeon was sloppy and I was just another TKR they do soooo regularly. Of course HE did nothing wrong. I am starting to vent sorry, best of luck. And for the PEZ the PRP injection really helped

Wow!Finally someone who knows how I am suffering. I have had 3 cortisone shots in my pes bursae. Helps for awhile. What is a PRP injection? You are correct. My first dr never treated the real problem, just another TKR to him. Have to wait 4 months until my next specialist visit to address the bumps under my skin. He won't do anything until 1 year has passed.
