Partial Small Bowel Obstruction Pain: Do things get better?
I was hospitalized with partial small bowel obstruction six months ago which was cleared non-surgically. I had laparoscopic lysis six weeks ago for multiple adhesions which were from a hemi-colectomy/appendectomy over twenty years ago. I have had no improvement in symptoms since then. I know that things can get worse but what I want to know is do things ever get better?
I'm hoping for a reason to become more optimistic about my situation.

I have never heard of using olive oil to prevent further SBO. I had a SBO operation because of adhesions last November and was in the hospital 2 weeks. I am fine now. But I am very careful with food - no raw fruit or veggies and no salad. Everything very well-cooked, I use Miralax every day (dr said that was ok) plus one Colace and one Senna plus teaspoon of Metamucil. That seems to work for me. I will ask my doctor about olive oil. Also important to walk or get some exercise. I never want to have another SBO again.
yes things do get better!
