Hi Tommy, with amylase and lipase levels greater than 200 U/L along with pain in your abdomen, you are worried that you may have pancreatitis. This is a question that only your doctor can answer as they will have all the test results as well as your medical history.
Will you be able to call your doctor in the morning to schedule an appointment to review the test results?
My tests for a 71 year old man lipless 449 amylase 242 stomach discomfort pain near bottom of my right rib cage ct scan unremarkable but can’t get any reply from my doctor
Does he know Celiac is a cause of most doctrine problems. It damages everything in your body, not just gastrointestinal. The doctors are not taught in med school. Look it up in Mayo web.
Do check for celiac disease, an autoimmune disease. That is what caused mine and my gallbladder to turn to stone.
They can tell from your blood work. That is how they track it in the hospital.they only did an endoscopy after to check it visually. An endoscopy is nothing.
When it hits you the pain is not easily tolerated. No food or drink in the hospital for 6 days. I can’t take opiates, but they had to give me morphine intravenously, it worked and did not make me go crazy and sick. Celiac is the cause. The doctors every day continued to say I was a drinker. I would like to have a glass of wine, but I also have interstitial Cystitis, so no acids, drink or food. Even asked my husband. They had no idea you could have it other than being an alcoholic.
If you can get your numbers down, avoid the full blown case.
I agree. Our doctor is part of a large teaching group and our doctor specializes in pancreas.. We have also been told that it can lead to pancreatitic cancer. The Mayo Clinic is I recommend by me personally.
Having a CT, MRI, and EUS that show inflammation is indicative of pancreatitis. Because you have a structural issue it’s most likely that you have it though at this point it’s most likely subclinical as you are not having symptoms. Being on a pancreatitis diet might really help reverse some of the inflammation that is being seen on scans. Your enzymes look good.
I’m having symptoms of pancreatitis therefore adhering to a pancreas diet and also because my enzymes are really high though I have no inflammation showing up on scans. The diet really helps reduce inflammation and gives the pancreas a break.
