Diagnosed diverticulosis and IBD, pain & discomfort below navel

Posted by hobbity @hobbity, Mar 15 2:45pm

Hi all ,
I have a diagnosed diverticulosis and irritable bowel . Mostly only bothers me when I have not been eating properly , fatty foods , low fiber foods etc. No past infections . For the past 2 months I have been in a lot of discomfort around my naval area . Right below it and above it . Some days very much so . I can't say its sharp pains , more like a pressure and just sore and achy all day . Bowel movements are usually ok but urgent . I am sticking to soup and eggs and carbs mostly as they aren't bothering me . My FIT test came back negative for blood so my new gastro doc said the colonoscopy wasn't urgent and is scheduled for July. Don't know if I'll make it to July! So worried I'll be needing some kind of surgery . He also told me to stay away from red meat , said it was the worst thing for diverticulosis. This includes pork and lamb . Anyone have experience with this sensation ? I also have dull ache left and right sides and around to my back .

Maybe time to check in with a gastro doc…who wants to live with pain unnessessarily ? Checked my pain with osteopath, whose exam revealed a lump- told me to test pronto —i did and it spared me a lot of suffering .wishing you relief !

@lisalucier , sorry for my late response , but no he is too busy to move up.my appt . I have good days if I stick to plain bland foods and get some fiber into me . If I stray a bit then im in distress . Just want to eat like a normal person ! And im not getting proper nutrients this way so I will see what I can add to my sparse diet . I can't take the vitamin supplements as they bother me too !
