Pain all over, I need some help

Posted by jmy75 @jmy75, Feb 19 2:40pm

My dad has had rectal cancer for 3 years. He had oral chemo and radiation, but that was it. He chose not to go through the colostomy and infusion chemo.

Since the new year started he's been mostly unable to walk. I wheel him to the bathroom. He tells me that even if I just touch him it hurts.

I know his cancer probably has spread. What does this mean though? Is he in the last stages? His breathing is strong.

I don't know what to do.

@jmy75, you've been caring for your dad so well. I know this hasn't been an easy road for either of you. It must be so hard to see your dad in pain. Is he able to see a palliative care physician who can help manage his pain and make him comfortable? Have you talked with his cancer team about when it might be time for hospice?
