@tisme
Were you diagnosed with TMJ?

Warm compresses and icing interchangeably may help some. NSAIDs could help with inflammation.

Do you have a mouthguard? Have you ever tried injections (cortisone) or acupuncture/dry needling? Do you do any physical work therapy and have good posture? Do you avoid chewing hard and tough foods?

yes I was diagnosed with tmj years ago by a facial surgeon, only recently started with pain ( I blame a night splint that wasnt right , only wore it a few hours but wow. ever since............the pain. I eat a soft food diet , what is physical work therapy??

I deal with TMJ and what helps: noticing when I'm clenching (happens way more than I realized), massage, heat, and being careful not to chew gum or eat hard foods when it's acting up

I am having issues getting a splint that fits , they seem to then in less than 24 hours or so they are too tight and no matter how they are altered they still are too tight. never had this issue before wonder if they are now being made out of the wrong stuff.

Has anyone determined cause. It is most helpful to see a dentist. I have a mild case an only occasionally. The chiropractor is able to adjust it for me.

@tisme I’ve had tmj my whole life and the only thing that helped me was the night guard. Your dentist should be able to make one for you. I also had a doctor make one. I would check into your dental and medical insurance first to see if it is covered. Since you already have one, I’m sure you know how expensive they can be😳
Wishing you the best, Sherry
