Right Upper Quadrant (RUQ) pain seemingly unrelated to SFN
I was watching a YouTube video with a neurologist discussing how someone else's patient had r.u.q. pain (gallbladder location) They removed her gallbladder only to find out the pain was mistaken for sfn. I dont know why this is the case, direct pain or lack of healing from poor circulation? I have r.u.q. pain that comes and goes not related to eating. I passed gallbladder function test and nothing on scans. I also hurt my shoulder and hip after replacement that healed, however started to hurt again when i started feeling sfn start in my body. My symptoms were first high heart rate lightheadedness that got better then burning feet a month later. Anyone else experiencing seemingly unrelated pains? The shoulder pain is very intense that comes and goes full days. I don't know if its from not healing due poor circulation and or small fibers dying. It seems to hurt worse with use , but like a day later, never while i use it. Sfn is suppose to effect veins by not squeezing them (forcing blood into the head more ) but I don't know how cappilaries or poor circulation are relate to small fibers. Sleeping positions are a major issue in hip and shoulder pain.

Hi @gbny1224, You will notice that we changed the title of your discussion to hopefully better describe what the discussion is about so that other members that have had similar symptoms can share their experiences with you. I did find some information on the subject that may be helpful.
"The right upper quadrant (RUQ) includes the pancreas, right kidney, gallbladder, liver, and intestines. Pain under the ribs in this area can indicate a health problem affecting one of these organs or the surrounding tissues."

Have you discussed the symptoms with your doctor?
@gbny1224 Hello. Interesting. For many years I’ve had pain on my right side. I’ve been told it’s everything from IBS, to gallbladder (but scans and tests were negative) to endometriosis. I have small fiber neuropathy and autonomic neuropathy. I would think if that pain is related, it would more likely be the autonomic neuropathy but I truly don’t know. I also have arm pain that is related. I thought it was a pinched nerve in my shoulder that caused the pain in my arm but all the scans by the orthopedic doctor showed nothing. I was very deficient in Vitamin D3 and with the first mega dose of D3, the arm pain improved. It doesn’t go away but it is better at times. The ortho scans and vitamin deficiency were all about 5 years before I was finally diagnosed with SFN/AN. I have an appointment with a Mayo neurologist in a couple weeks and will ask about the right side pain. Thanks for the insight!
My best,
Robyn
Yes all blood test and scans show nothing going for an upper g.i. next week. Maybe the same mechanism that deprives hair follicles of nutrition in sfn does the same with nerves and tissue, causing pain.
Great that d3 helps I'm out in the sun as much as possible. I'm trying ALA and NAD which have been proven to help nerves, and also rosemary (ursolic acid) which showed promise in animal studies and just started human trials. And of course the usual Bs i guess melatonin is a powerful anti oxidant gonna add that one in there as well just a 3mg dose before bed.
I live in the sun (I’m in AZ) and strangely my D3 was very deficient. Also odd, my B6 levels were “too high” and I don’t take a B6 supplement. I have heard good things about melatonin. I am not on a regimen with that yet. I’ll also look into the others you mentioned!
Just found the video again its called "small fiber polyneuropathy and central sensitization how do these concepts apply to ucpp" at the 14 min mark
@gbny1224 - I thought I would share the video for you so others can offer their thoughts.
