Osteoporosis, bone on bone cervical degeneration, PRP injection
Has anyone had a PRP injection for bone-on-bone disc degeneration of the cervical spine. My osteoporosis is so severe surgeon has said he can’t fix me until my T score improves. Meanwhile I suffer from severe headaches due to the cervical degeneration.

Are you on a bone anabolic. Many surgeons prescribe Forteo or Tymlos in anticipation of surgery. Both medications increase T scores, speed of healing after surgery and enhance integration of surgical hardware.
They also increase chondrocytes in disc cartilage. I haven't tried PRP, but opine that it couldn't hurt. I wonder though if your pain would be lessened by facet joint injections, until you qualify for the surgery.
I would also have a second opinion. You might look at artificial discs instead of fusion.
Hard to do anything with a headache. Best wishes.
What a facet injection does is lessen the pain for a while, but they are not good for bone growth. I have done a couple of those. I am on Prolia but will not know until next year if it has helped. Thanks for your reply.
In 2007 I had a cervical disc "extrude," meaning it rather disintegrated?? Anyway, I had an artificial disc replacement which worked wonders? Maybe worth asking doctor if this may be a possibility for you?
PRP is not yet FDA approved.
