One Week Post Surgery

Posted by dlionhardt @dlionhardt, 17 hours ago

Good morning everyone, I am approximately one week post-surgery, and the surgery went well. Dr. Abbate called my wife after it was completed and said the margins looked good, and he was confident he removed all the tumor. They took a small pocket of my stomach, but it was minimal.

The surgery was performed with the Da Vinci 5 robotic surgical system. I feel blessed that the Methodist Hospital made the investment on that system for their hospital. It makes recovery, hospital stay, and post-surgical pain less. They made six small incisions, five along my waist area, and one below my sternum. And I was back at home by 2100 hrs, having arrived at the hospital around 0630.

I am still sore, but I am in good spirits and looking forward to my post-op appoint on the 30th. Until then I am on a liquid diet, which is difficult, bu my wife is keeping me fueled with smoothies and soups.

More to follow after my post-op appointment.

That’s great news! So glad things went smoothly and you are feeling so positive. Best wishes with your recovery and that liquid diet.
