Oncotype DX test result

Hi
I am 43 years old and was diagnosed with breast cancer stage 1 in Oct'22. No lymph nodes involved.I had skin sparing mastectomy on 4th Jan'23 and my block was sent for Oncotype DX.The result came and my score is 13 and recurrence chance is 4% in next nine years.I haven't been through any chemo and radiation.My Dr has advised Tamoxifen for the first month and later AI with lucrin injection on every 3rd month as I have history of endometriosis with 4 open surgeries (myomectomies). I want to know anyone who has experienced recurrence with this low score? What are the side effects of Tamoxifen and AI? What things I should be really concerned about?

@rida is that 4% risk with assumed hormonal therapy? So it is approximately 8% without therapy? Mine was similar and I am 8 years out. You can probably do hormonal therapy and no radiation or chemo.

What were your pathology tests like? Size, grade? Er and Pr?

The meds aren't that bad for many of us, honest. I was bothered by fillers and tried different manufacturers and settled on name brand, though I later found a generic I could take.

Hi,Glad to know you are out since 8 years.Yes, it's 4% risk with hormonal therapy.My ER and PR were positive,8.4 & 8.7 respectively.Size was 1.7 cms ,Stage 1A grade II

Yes but copay was expensive. It was tier 3. Depends on your insurance. For the last three months (out of 5 years) I did find a generic that I was not sensitive to! All that money! Oh well, I comfort myself that maybe I got the purest doses 🙂

Insurance should cover if your doctor writes that it is the only one you can tolerate. Also, most all pharmacies offer discounts that may make the drug cheaper than the co-pay. You just have to ask.

Insurance should cover if your doctor writes that it is the only one you can tolerate. Also, most all pharmacies offer discounts that may make the drug cheaper than the co-pay. You just have to ask.

COSTCO membership entitles one to really reduced prices. I pay 1/3 of what CVS charged for the exact same product. But , although still much lower that CVS, if I went through my insurance at the COSTCO pharmacy it was more expensive. So I told them to just use membership price.

There are a lot of medication discounts available. You just have to ask. Many drugs are on a $4.00 only list. My husband was started on a new drug and through insurance the co-pay was around $140. I asked if there were discounts available and there was. With the discount and not going trough insurance it was $70.

I did a lot of research on the generics and filler’s. I settled on 1 that’s made by Accord. It seems to be ok, and better if taken at supper time. Cost is 8.00 per month, less if you get it for 6 month supply

I had a 2% chance of recurrence. I chose not to do chemo or radiation. My breast cancer did recur after 9 months. No lymph nodes involved either time. After the second recurrence I did chemo and proton beam radiation. I took Tamoxifen for 2 years but developed gastritis because of the blood thinner I was on with it. Have been on letrozole for 2 1/2 years since with some side effects. Another 6 months and I hope to be drug free:)
