@awesomemomx2 What would you plan to do with the information?
The only person I know who had it done "freaked out" at some of the items listed as possible predispositions to disease in her report. It took an hour of talking and showing her information on Google Scholar about what the results met to calm her down...and she is not prone to hysteria.
I just looked for "3x4 testing research" in Google Scholar all appear to have been written by/for Rupa Health, who sponsors many testing companies. I didn't see any independent work.
Thank you. I had heard it talked about on a podcast dealing with woman doing an integrative approach with dealing with her own osteoporosis and had never heard about it before. There wasn't really info presented about it. Nor did I find out a lot about its specifics on just line. I understood it was suppose to give you more info about what you may be allergic to. I was trying to find out more facts about. I also got the impression that needed someone very knowledgeable to interpret the results. I really was looking for specifics on its reliability and true diagnostic value. Thank your input.
As you probably know it's a DNA test that can identify genes that are associated with osteoporosis. So then a genetic counselor has to look at it and tell you what the associations are, like diet, or environmental triggers, or genes associated with slowing of mineralization or increased breakdown of bone, there are genes associated with cartilage formation, genes associated with vitamin D utilization, .... etc.
Based on those genetic association, the counselor could tell you how to enhance your chances for bone health, or which drugs would be best for your particular genetic makeup.
