Next Step After Evenity

I'm back and so grateful to this community of women who are always willing to share experiences and knowledge. I had my 11th Evenity injection 2 weeks ago and counseled with my Doctor's assistant regarding the next step. It's been a little convoluted the past 6 or so months because all my questions to the assistant are relayed to the Doctor and then back to me through the assistant. It didn't start this way and due to changes within the office (compete staff turnover) they are struggling to manage patients. Anyway, I'm told the doctor's plan is for me to start Reclast following my last injection to lock in my gains. I voiced my concerns about Reclast to her again as I had to stop Fosamax after 8 months due to extreme and debilitating joint pain. Reclast and Fosamax are both Bisphosphanates and so I'm hesitate to start Recast. Thanks to information gained on this site, I asked if I could start Reclast as a "text dose" at 1 mg instead of the full 5 mg and the answer was a hard no. Reason being that "the infusion center has a specific protocol and that cannot be altered". Same answer when I asked if I could receive IV hydration before the Reclast, a hard no as it breaks protocol. And my doctor tells me that she only works with this one infusion center therefore I cannot go elsewhere. This seems ridiculous to me.
In the meantime, today I had a video chat with Dr. Keith McCormick and his strong opinion is that I absolutely not risk a full dose of Reclast. He feels that if my doctor cannot order the 1 mg test dose and then if I tolerate that well to gradually increase up to the 5 mg per year that I consider starting a different treatment plan: .0375 HRT patch along with 100 mg oral progesterone and Actonel for 4 months (also a bisphosphonate but a different mechanism), check my CTX and go from there.
I would love to find a new osteoporosis specialist here locally but it's now my 11th hour and the doctors here in Florida are backed up months and months. I tried so hard to do my research and be on top of my healthcare and I felt like things were going really well until this latest ball drop. Any input, advice about any of the above or experience with HRT/Progesterone/Actonel post Evenity is really appreciated. Again, so thankful to all those reading my post. And my very best to you.

I have a hard time accepting that a doctor, who took an oath to do no harm, would put protocol over the welfare of patients. How very sad.

@normahorn Agreed....We all certainly have to be our our healthcare advocates and keep pushing and when necessary fighting for answers and for what is best for our individual bodies. I honestly think like I know more about Osteoporosis treatments that my primary physician after almost 2 years of research (and this wonderful blog)

Hi @berniebrooks3, I was treated with a different anabolic, Forteo, and then transitioned directly to HRT without a bisphosphonate. It's been 15 months on HRT, and things have been going very well - my DXA showed further bmd improvements on HRT alone.
