Hi, I am a sixty-year young grandmother of 6. I am now one year out from the beginning of treatment for Tonsil and Breast cancer. I am NED, no evidence of disdease, at this time. I had surgery, IMRT radiation and chemotherapy for Tonsil cancer and 2 lumpectomies and radiation for breast cancer. It was a very trying 2011 for me and my family, but I am getting better month by month. I am being treated at Mayo Florida and they have taken very good care of me. We must be our own health care advocates, however, and fight like the dickens!!!

I want to encourage anyone beginning their treatment, recovering and living with the aftermath of cancer to know there is always hope - even when you don't feel it. I am living proof. I don't know how long I will be free from active cancer, but I intend to live each day to the best of my ability with grace and courage.

Thank you for posting. It does give encouragement to those of us just starting down this path.

Sarah, I hope I can help someone everyday to keep fighting and enjoying that day that God has given them..granted when you are in the throws of the treatment process and recovery some days you just as well not remember and I found God was always merciful to help me remember the good ones and forget the bad. I'm always here for you if you want to talk
