New Pt Seeing Dr Wang

I’m coming to Mayo next week for consult with Dr Wang … just looking for feedback and any advice ahead of time. I’ve seen multiple doctors in my home state and I’ve had zero success and they finally threw their hands up and recommended Mayo. This has been a seven year journey and I’m just hopeful for answers.

Hi Ipwarcup, We could provide better help if you provide some information about why you are seeing Dr. Wang?

I have had multiple small bowel obstructions. Small bowel resection. Stable for about 2-3 years and then started having cardiac symptoms diagnosed with POTS and severe iron deficiency. Saw hematology told to get iron infusion and should be fine thereafter. But to be honest, the safe side recommended a six-month recheck, which then showed that it didn’t even look like I had received the iron. Got iron every 4 months for about 18-20 months then started requiring IV iron every 10-12 weeks and that has persisted.
Then new G.I. symptoms starting last fall was intermittent bleeding with dark stool and clotting.
Every test they’ve done I’m told it’s not abnormal enough to give whatever’s going on a name, but it isn’t normal either.

Also have intermittent LUQ pain and occasionally periumbilical and to the right. Brain fog joint pain.

I am sorry to hear that you have had such a difficult time. Bowel problems are frequently related to diet. Have you talked to a dietician about possible diet connections/food allergies that may be causing your problems?
