Nervive for hands and feet. Does it interfere with levothyroxine ?

Posted by darick @darick, Aug 7 11:45pm

Has anyone who has neuropathy in hands and feet and who is taking Levothyroxine tried Nervive ? I read that it might affect the medication, but some people have had good results with it.

I don't use Nervive, but I do use R-Alpha Lipoic Acid. And I do take my daily dose of levathyroxone. From what I read, Nervive is a small dose of ALA and some B vitamins. And IMO, it's really $$$ for what you're getting. But I've never had an interaction and my thyroid tests have been good.

That's good to know. In what way has the R-Alpha Lipoic Helped you.
Do you buy a specific brand? I have heard R-ALA has some interesting stories.
Thanks for your response and anything else you would like to add.

My podiatrist suggested ALA. I checked with my endocrinologist and she said it was ok. Just take the levothyroxine by itself in AM. I take vitamins and such several hours after levothyroxine. I planned on ALA then too. The extra Bs helped so I haven’t started the ALA yet. I am not sure what I did with the paper I wrote brand name on. If I find it I will post it. Good luck.

I've used several different brands of R-ALA. I get it from Amazon. And I take it with Aceytl-L-Carnitine. I understand the R-ALA is absorbed better than plain ALA.
I honestly don't know if has actually helped, but it hasn't hurt. It is recommended by a lot of Doctors. The only thing I can suggest is start slowly. It can cause some stomach upset in some people. And like others, I do take it a couple of hours after the levathyroxone.

Thank you for your response. Yes, I noticed there are other people that are also taking
R-ALA for various reasons. Like you have mentioned, there are various comments to the effectiveness of the medication. Some reactions are almost immediate and some take more
time. Hope it works for you.

Best of health.

I don’t know how much you are unto supplements but I have learned lately to look for a company that does 3rd party testing and posts the results on their website. I tend to trust a disinterested lab more than in house testing that would be beneficial to the brand. Let us know. Good luck.
