Need help to understand possible causes of my wifes symptoms

Hi All,

My wife is currently 11 weeks postpartum and since the last one month she's been having some weird symptoms.

Her symptoms started after she pulled a heavy luggage which lead to a back pain and after a week she had some UTI. The doctor prescribed her Bactrim for 3 days and we got cyclobenzaprine and ketorolac for the back pain. She took a dose of cyclobenzaprine and Bactrim, slept because of dizziness and woke up with heaviness around her right eyes, ringing in ears and tingling in arms and legs. That week we also completed the Bactrim doses and UTI went away. So far we have done MRI of brain which was clear, C-spine showed very mild disc bulges with no nerve compression and lumbar spine showed very mild disc bulge as well. Autoimmune panel with reflex including Sjogrens antibodies was also done along with Vitamin B12, D and thyroid panel. Thyroid only showed mild increase with TSH of 4.9.

B12 was 344 pg/ml before starting supplement.
Vitamin D was 19 ng/ml.

The next week, she also suddenly started having knee pain while stretching for her back and needed a cane to walk even to restroom, this got better with rest. She also noticed word mixing for a few days. We were stressed a lot with the baby, hospital visits and googling about symptoms. The ENT and eye doctor checked the eyes and said everything is clear during the first week when symptoms appear. Sometimes she has high heart rate (90–100 bpm) when she goes to sleep.

Last 2 weeks after she finished the dose of methylprednisolone 4mg the same week she started feeling blurriness at a distance and the opthalmologist checked the eyes and mentioned ocular allergies causing dry eyes and prescribed lotemax which my wife has been taking since 2 weeks and the last visit doctor said the allergies are about 50% better and wants use to continue using lotemax with for another 4 weeks with taoer and switch to eye drops. She does feel better in the eyes vision wise but still has feelings of something stuck in the eye.

Over the last 3 weeks, she says tingling in arms and legs has improved, the word mixing is totally gone, knee pain is a lot better. Her neurological exams have been all fine. But what we have noticed is that her nerves are very sensitive, e.g. a hit on the ankle caused more pain than normal and doctor said it's because of nerve irritation. The last blood draw caused a bruise that led to burning and pain in right forearm. Neck massage in the scalene by PT caused her pain radiating to shoulder, right arm and near ears too. All of this subsides in intensity after a few days.

She has been a vegetarian all her life, takes prerenatal multivitamin. Her iron levels have been on the lower side and ferritin is also very low 14

She is also breastfeeding currently and has reduced the frequency since the symptoms began.

We have met a neurologist whi indicated it could be post viral symptoms and Rheumatologist also suggested similar and told us postpartum hormones, strees, sleep deprivation and muscle laxity can cause this. Because her muscle pain or knee pain gets better with rest and she feels the best in the mornings and there is no stiffness.

We have started her on B12 orsl dosage, Iron supplement and doctor wants to add thyroid medication as well.

We are not fully sure what's going on and wanted to reach out the community as to what could be going here.

One kast thing she did have a lip sore 3 weeks before all of this started.

Lately she mentioned her tingling and heaviness around the eye is no longer constant but comes and goes

Hi…sorry to hear of her health issues…I’m wondering if a reaction to the antibiotic or the cyclo….which is a muscle relaxant and affects nervous system…check out its side effects.

@stallen Thanks for commenting, I did ask OB and PCP about it and they said even if that was the case it should not have gone by now.
